  • CAD Drafter/Project Coordinator – Mount Prospect, IL

    Position overview 

    We are seeking a highly detailed person with a proven history of successful design, drafting and documentation release. The CAD Drafter / Project Coordinator works directly with Engineers and other internal resources to design and release all documentation necessary for manufacturing.

    The position will be responsible for providing engineering design and drafting support, project management, BOM’s and other related documentation. The ideal candidate has a history of successfully interacting with internal teams and completing projects and/or assisting other engineers in theirs. Key areas of accountability include, managing projects, meeting scheduled due dates, accurate drawing output and drafting task management. Must have knowledge and experience working with SolidWorks.

    Responsibilities 

    The CAD Drafter / Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

    • Using SolidWorks: design, revise and document parts for release to manufacturing/purchasing 
    • Support the coordination and processing of ECN’s for new and existing products 
    • Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects 
    • Interface and team with other Engineers, Suppliers, Customers, and other internal functional areas such as operations, marketing, and purchasing 
    • Create thorough detail and assembly drawings from designer’s layouts 
    • Verify accuracy of BOMs and assembly drawings 
    • Perform data entry into the MRP system as required (Including Item numbers, Bills of Materials, ECNs) 
    • Update procedure/specification type word documents as required 
    • Provide sustaining engineering support 
    • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of projects, individuals, and the company 

    Skills and Qualifications

    You will thrive working with us if you have the following:

    • Associates Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
    • 5 years experience in mechanical drafting and processing Engineering Change Notices
    • Ability and proficiency in creating or altering drawings in Solidworks
    • Detailed person with strong organization and self-motivation skills
    • Able to work independently with designers and engineers on various projects producing detailed assembly drawings for fabrication
    • Knowledge of plastic injection, sheet metal and packaging
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Effective project management skills
